Be patient and persevere when

when you don’t hear the
hoofing sounds of horses put
your ear to the ground

Most of these words came in the mail  this morning, modestly hiding  in a letter of encouragement from our friend and colleague  Lim Thean Heng, commenting on our persistent, at times too persistent, efforts to create and support the conditions for a sustainable mobility renaissance in Penang, which is not always that easy or as fast as one might like.  So let’s credit these seventeen syllables (5/7/5) to LTH for this year’s Haiku Sustainability Slam.

And for the latest on our Haikus from many places, let me point you to “Inside world: 2015 World Streets Haiku Sustainability Slam” at http://wp.me/psKUY-3SW

And this recently from Hsin Chu, in the hope of inspiring you:

the great art is to
listen to the softest voice
even in the wind

Or this good counsel from  Khoo Salma of the Penang Heritage Trust:

when trying to write
haikus on mobility
you have to stand still

Now, are you inspired? Give it a try.  It really is like a sudden sweet fresh breeze on your sweating face on a hot and humid day.
